RIFT is a visualization of our energy systems in relation to their environment. It is a relearning of the idea of renewable in an increasingly entropic landscape. We can learn from Iceland, a country once reliant on fossil fuels, that has converted its entire energy system within the last century. The current Icelandic power grid is solely dependent on hydroelectric and geothermal energy, both of which are readily available within its volcanic, coastal environment. This country has revolutionized sustainable culture through its complete coesixtence with the land and its people. By combining art, research, and science, we expose what is and what could be.
